For Truckers By Truckers mission is provide a Platform for the Trucking industry to communicate, and resolve issues through comprehensive action. Our vision is to empower Professional drivers with the knowledge & support necessary to increase revenue and sustain their equipment.

Excerpt: we are not here to speak on behalf of the Port of Virginia. That's the job of one Mr. Joe Harris jharris@portofvirginia.com . However let's look back to the original design capability of VIG/APM. Simply put, the technology that was developed was not capable of supporting large volumes of trucks. APM started with 4 to 5 shiplines use, now we have double or triple that number. The autonomous cranes can only operate at certain speed. There are approximately 22-26 total interchange lanes and only a handful of labor to cover all of them. The system is obviously not as sophisticated as that of NIT. Also, let's be honest that their are times when our fellow drivers don't help the situation by not knowing their information, such as License plate number, booking number, have to call their dispatcher... and whatever else. Hopefully that can shed a little light on your question Greg, whether you buy it or not, that's what we came up with...‎GROUNDHOGDAY‬ in April.
On a brighter note, the Outbound is light.

Please note: while a trucking background will provide some good insight, it is more important to think of yourself as a “business owner” rather than a trucker.
Business owners pay attention to sound, business fundamentals as guiding principles instead of following Facebook & likes.

Let's get back on track. I found this to be interesting...

The ODAs included, for the first time, awards for “nonproductive time,” such as time spent inspecting the truck, waiting for dispatch, or scanning in paperwork at the end of the day. Each of the four XPO drivers were awarded an average of $38,000 in wages for unpaid hours, plus liquidated damages for the same amount, amounting to approximately $76,000 each, in addition to expenses, deductions, meal and rest breaks, and interest. The awards for “nonproductive time” were pursuant to California Assembly Bill 1513 passed in 2016, which requires employers to pay employees paid piece rate for nonproductive time.

“XPO controls every aspect of my work,” Jose Herrera told investors on the call. “XPO has the customer relationships, not me. The company tells me where to go and when to go there. The truck I drive has XPO clearly marked on the outside and I’m not allowed to take that truck to any other company if work is slow at XPO. Even though they are clearly in control of my work, XPO refuses to give me the same rights as their employee drivers in other divisions. That means that I have no worker’s compensation if I get injured on the job or disability insurance if something happens to me. And that’s not all – XPO deducts their business expenses from our paychecks, like truck maintenance, repairs, and fuel. They charge us for everything and the government has confirmed what I’ve always known: It is illegal. That’s why my co-workers and I have been fighting, suing, and striking.”

Do you wonder why it's so quite in Hampton Roads' ports? Could it be that after five years it has finally ended. No more dueling rants on Funny-Facebook. Some 700 million dollars later and it's working? It sure nice to hear myself think for a change. I just might find a decent conversation.

You get plenty of time to think when you can't get an appointment to going into the port. Or sitting in the empty yards long line trying to made you next ports appointment for pickup.. this new system has flaws. Mostly cause it's work force doesn't care enough.
