There are class A buses out there so it has to be permitted. When i went to cdl school back in ‘03 the subject came up. At the time SEPTA still had them on the road. I don’t know if they still do or not.

Thinking about it that may be accordion buses. If it was them, most all major city’s regional transportation system runs them.

Yes there is a class A Passenger.
I have a restriction on my license. No classA Passenger.
Now I have seen RV’s with a small trailer. Carries the mother in law.

I've seen I southern California a class a combination vehicle carrying passengers. It was on the 10 fwy and run by Redlands municipality. Trailer looked like a bus, had windows, seats , standing poles and doors.
And then there are the articulated buses used in the PNW.

And yet, Louisiana is one of the states that does allow passengers to ride in the back of a pickup camper...
Which States Allow Passengers to Travel in Campers?

Yes. I think they were originally ordered and operated by Orange county.

Looks to be a custom trailer pulled by a single screw daycab WhiteGMC cabover tractor.

Yes, I recall reading about special rules for tending livestock in trailers. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with a race rig. (I'm not a racer.) It's easy for me to imagine that the people doing it don't really know if it's legal or not anyway (even if they think they do - see the other comments here).

My backup plan is to get a coach/toterhome with a trailer but I am much more comfortable having standard trailers that can be readily repositioned. (Also, I'll have another tractor-trailer in this convoy so having two similar trucks provides some redundancy.)

You can not do this legally.

When you get your insurance, you will have to tell them what you are going to be doing, they will tell you what I am telling you.

They may also tell you if you get caught with people in a trailer, they will not cover you from that point on.

You're gonna find road block check points in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas that specifically check for passengers in the trailer lol.
