There are class A buses out there so it has to be permitted. When i went to cdl school back in ‘03 the subject came up. At the time SEPTA still had them on the road. I don’t know if they still do or not.
Thinking about it that may be accordion buses. If it was them, most all major city’s regional transportation system runs them.

I've seen I southern California a class a combination vehicle carrying passengers. It was on the 10 fwy and run by Redlands municipality. Trailer looked like a bus, had windows, seats , standing poles and doors.
And then there are the articulated buses used in the PNW. -

My backup plan is to get a coach/toterhome with a trailer but I am much more comfortable having standard trailers that can be readily repositioned. (Also, I'll have another tractor-trailer in this convoy so having two similar trucks provides some redundancy.)Chinatown Thanks this. -

When you get your insurance, you will have to tell them what you are going to be doing, they will tell you what I am telling you.
They may also tell you if you get caught with people in a trailer, they will not cover you from that point on. -
You're gonna find road block check points in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas that specifically check for passengers in the trailer lol.
