I just got into one last week, and I'm trying to figure everything out. I've read the Owner's Manual a dozen times, and they don't exactly have a FAQ, so here goes.
- How does this Engine Start/Stop exactly work? When does it cut the engine on? When I was in my Cascadia, my power to my laptop would barely hold for 8 hours, and then the truck would shut everything down because the voltage hit 12.2. This truck has been wavering back and forth between 12.1 and 12.3 for the last five hours (I'm on my restart), and it has yet to cut in. All it does is kind of cycle the truck's accessories and then the voltage climbs back up to 12.3. I'm not exactly sure what is happening? I understand that this truck has a separate battery for starting, so does that mean the voltage that I'm shown is from the system batteries? Not the starter battery?
- Is there any way I can rip out this Eaton Fuller POS Transmission? I hate reversing under any conditions. I hate sliding the tandems, and I hate bumping the docks if there is any sort of hill or bump or any terrain indifference. It just doesn't like letting the clutch go so I can feather the gas. It's almost as if this transmission doesn't ever like letting go of the clutch when you're in slow-maneuvering. I've looked up in the Transmission booklet about the Secondary configurations, but I can't seem to get it to change no matter how long I hold the upshift button.
- My Malfunction Lamp comes on overnight when I have the Engine Start/Stop activated, and doesn't disappear until I'm driving for a little bit. I have to then stop the engine and then start it again to get it to wipe the Malfunction Lamp. Is it just a Regen problem? If so, why won't it go away while it Regens going down the road? Should I be giving it a Regen while I'm parked (read: trapped) on my 34?

Talked to a driver that bought a T680 close to 2 years ago. He said it's been in the shop for over 200 days and that he's currently involved in a lawsuit. He just put the truck in the shop last week and kenworth told him "2 weeks to 2 months" repair time.

The T680s are actually designed to idle at higher RPMs with the Auto Start function to charge the batteries quicker. I also think it's to put less of a strain on the emissions.
My thing is... If I have to take a 34 because I burned my 70 running 10-12 hours of work a day, I want the function to work if you're not going to put me in a hotel. I don't want to sit in under 30 degree weather just because the company doesn't want to waste money.
I wouldn't do that to myself if that was my own truck. I ran 70 hours in 6 days, I think I deserve some restSingingWolf Thanks this. -
Log it legal, log it accurate , but keep as much time for you as possible. If you're logging on duty, be husseling- get it done safely and well then get off duty. Two minutes here or there don't seem like much but it adds up. Avoiding restarts is a goal for me when I run more than a week.
If a restart is in the cards and you are not near an (real) oc or other place thats acceptable to you and you want a hotel you need to set it up with your dbl ahead of time. Support shift is not allowed to get hotels except for breakdowns (and they must verify that a work order has been opened) or safety reasons.SlimPickens Thanks this.
