That was called "drivers' legal plan" or at least the one I used was called that. The company I worked for encouraged all the drivers to sign up for the service. It cost us $2 on payroll deduction which was pretty cheap insurance to protect your license, or so I thought. I used it a handful of times to good effect.

I've used both a couple times for tickets.
One was for an accident in my pov.

You pay a retainer and they refer your case to a local lawyer.

Last time the retainer was $500. I am satisfied with my representation, even though I didn't get the outcome I wanted.
(Pled no contest to failure to control, points and court costs dismissed)

Unfortunately, some trucking companies treat " failure to control" as "reckless driving", which made things a bit difficult until it dropped off my record.

And even though it dropped off my MVR after 3 years, many companies ask about "traffic citations and accidents in the preceding 5 years"........

The one I mentioned was 20+ years ago. And if you got a ticket you also had to pay $100 or $150 to fight it. It got me out of some tickets. That was back when you could have minor traffic violations in just about any state swept under the rug so to speak. Anymore with feds dictating to the states over cdl holders being dinged and reported for every little thing it's near impossible for that.

More recently I did hire an attorney for $500 on my own to fight a speeding ticket I got back in the fall of 2019 in my personal vehicle. The case went to court a few days before coronavirus shut down everything everywhere. I dunno what happened to that one it just disappeared and we never went back to court again. Never did affect my auto insurance nor keep me from getting my current job but I did wait it out 3+ years for it to fall off just in case.
