I have been driving for 25 years and i have seen nearly all my friends on the road develop type 2 diabetes. Many it was no surprise because of food choices. Yet some it came as a surprise

People can stop and reverse type 2 by stop eating foods with sugar and lots of carbohydrates. People would be surprised how sugar is in everything.

Used to see drivers carrying those big ol mugs of pop.....quart size....so they can take advantage of the $1.99 refill or whatever. Then you'd see some rascal sportin 350 or better with the same set up and I'd just think, "dude, you are killing yourself." (That said from a smoker and a drinker......). So no judgment, right?
I drank 2 things on the road, water and coffee (sometimes a beer or 5).
So, sometimes I wanted to say, "dude, you can't drink a half a gallon of Mountain Dew every day and expect a long life."
To which he could reply, "you can't smoke a pack of cigarettes every day and expect a long life."
    And he would be right.
So, I don't know whats worse.
Perhaps it's just as tough coming off of sugar as it is nicotine.

I've taken to getting water at the restaurant for price and calories. Sugar free drinks after realizing I was drinking 230 cal per can. Probably the leading cause of diabetes everywhere. I've luckily never had to deal with that or the latest fad of sleep apnea, though I'm still overweight.

I think (as in I don't know but I think) that sugar free stuff is actually worse for you.
I used to get a free case of water with my pilot points and that's all I drank.
    Just water.

It's basically a concentrated sweetness alcohol, which is why chewing gum can give false readings on a breathalyzer. Only certain ones are dangerous to dogs, but that's the limit of it. Pretty safe stuff.

If people want soda to drink and don't want to raise blood sugar or help stop type 2 diabetes check out Zevia. No sugar no carbohydrates.

How is that any different from any of the plethora of zero calorie sodas?

It's made with Stevia as the sweetener. Stevia comes from the Stevia plant so it not an artificial sweetener or man made. It's sweet like sugar but won't raise blood sugar levels. So your body won't make insulin to combat it like it does for sugar. It comes from the Stevia plant and not man made, so no long term side affects from what everyone says. If you pour out a can of Zevia soda it looks like water. Then don't even add fake color.

Cyanide also comes from plants. Just because it's natural doesn't make it better. The benefit to artificial sweeteners, stevia included, is that it is so sweet that only a miniscule amount is needed so you don't need to be overly concerned.
