While there may be a lot more "decked out trucks" in other branches of trucking than dry box, that has a lot to do with what dry box deals with. There are a lot of places dry boxes get in to that make having a stretched out, double eagle sleeper, etc kind of truck not a practical deal. I wouldn't want anything longer than the 228" WB Columbia 70" sleeper I use now. Makes life considerably easier to get in and out of many of the customers I deal with. Besides, trucking is nothing but business to me. I am not interested is running around with something I would enter into a truck beauty contest with enough lights to look like a rolling casino. But each has their own likes and dislikes. It if doesn't make me money or save me money, I have little interest in it. I go home weekly and don't sit around truck stops trying to impress the trucking community with my truck. Just some decent creature comforts and I am happy.

A show quality truck covered in chrome and lights is cool of course, but an old anything from the 80's or 90's that's well maintained and still makes money is cool too. Just like with cars most of them are beat up peices of junk by the time they're 15-20 years old but occasionally you'll catch that one guy with something old but amazingly maintained, almost like they're curating a museum exhibit.

Not to be accused of being a fan boy, but I always appreciate and look forward to learning from @Hurst and @Ridgeline. Excellent business men and always take time to explain their thought processes.

Well People say it's a wonder I'm not broke or I'm going broke because of my age and my somewhat shiny old truck. They don't realize we pieced it together out of a pile. Plus it's what I enjoy driving if I had to drive a big condo Volvo or shaker I'd quit it's all in what you like and how you make it work

I like the extra 5 to 7 grand a year in fuel savings I put in my pocket with my new, computerized plastic truck. I'll sell it the day after its paid for and let someone else deal with the long term emissions issues. Get another brand new one with even better economy and repeat.

If you chrome plated a hammer, does it make you a better Carpenter or any more money?
