Hello all, new driver here, just got my CDL (Hazmat, TWIX, Tanker, Double triple indorsement). For my first week with a company they had me ride with one of their senior drivers to get the feel of things. We were properly hazmat placard. The driver went thru 6 railroad crossings without stopping, and was texting and driving. At one point he ran a stop sign as he was texting. Should I, or should I not report him to safety? FYI, his brother is in management.

    Thanks,
    Saturn V

Follow your own mind, not other's. Guy is in the severe wrong and doesn't care obviously.

Nepotism will keep the perpetrator employed -- & also, out of trouble.

Get out now -- while you can still exit with a clean slate. o_O

If you want to be fired, report him.
If you don't want a firing on your record and whatever else his brother will do to your record, then just properly resign and then find another job.

Or, you can stay mum. Do your ride along then when you get your own truck, FOLLOW THE RULES. If he gets stopped, it will be on him.

You've come very far and you're almost in your own truck. Don't do anything to sabotage that. You're almost there.

There are things in the world that feel like the right thing to do and technically would be, but they would cause you more harm than good. Saying anything about this guy is one if them, particularly if he has family in the office.

Welcome to the world of office politics.

In all fairness, not all tracks require a stop at them.

A few years ago, this fuel hauler pulled up next to me at a state route that had signal lights, I couldn’t believe when I saw he has his phone on the left hand with the steering wheel watching a movie or something.

record the behavior, sent it to the cops, and quit.

Remember, when this POS driver hits and kills someone, it may be your family.

ALWAYS take it as if your family is nearby and in danger.
