Driver of rig that flipped on W.Va. Turnpike arrested on DUI charge, official says
Got stuck behind this going northbound for a bit early this morning before getting flipped and headed up US-19. No injuries reported so there's that but, man, those shoulders were choked with folks who figured they'd just wait it out. Like blocking half the hammer lane because the shoulder was just inches wide.
Hazmat wreck closes the WV Turnpike

Man just lost his career. DUI in a regular rig is bad enough but doing it with a hazmat load.... will most likely get his cdl suspended for 3 years and lose hazmat endorsement for life.

Detour isn't that bad.
The man is presumed innocent until proven guilty of some wrong doing.D.Tibbitt, ProfessionalNoticer, cuzzin it and 2 others Thank this. -
Dave_in_AZ, Your statement holds no water.
Article CLEARLY STATES: HE'S GUILTY OF IMPAIRED/DRUNK DRIVING, not "we think he might have be". NO LAWYER can get him out of that, considering the Carnage AND the HAZ-MAT spillage, which, most likely, may well NOT have occurred were he SOBER, or at least Alcohol FREE.
"West Virginia State Police said an odor of alcohol was detected coming from the man’s breath following the crash, which led to a series of field sobriety tests being performed.
Troopers said West failed multiple sobriety tests and then blew a .128 on a breath test. The legal BAC limit in West Virginia is .08." Probably .04 for a Class A Person, because the "legal Limit" of .08 is for NON Commercial Vehicle Drivers.
North Carolina is .08 for NON Commercial Vehicle/Licensed Drivers.
.04 for Commercial Licensed Drivers.Boondock, Coffey, Another Canadian driver and 2 others Thank this. -
For a minute there when I read the article I thought it was going to state that a CSX freight train had derailed in West Virginia, seeing as how hazmat was involved!lol
Having said that, that driver is VSF-and so is his company. That environmental cleanup isn’t going to be cheap!Boondock, Val_Caldera, Another Canadian driver and 3 others Thank this. -
Just got off the phone with a friend at the WVDOH, he’s been down there at the scene since his morning.
Said all the fish in paint creek are belly up and floating down stream.
Told me the product the guy was hauling is used to help create bubbles in soaps. Said in the form he was hauling it in, it can be very hazardous. Apparently so since it’s killing all the fish.
Hope no one especially a child, gets in the creek and gets harmed…..stevep1977, Boondock, D.Tibbitt and 12 others Thank this. -
Good thing about the detour, you get to cross the New River Gorge bridge…..Boondock, D.Tibbitt, Dave_in_AZ and 1 other person Thank this. -
I delivered in Louisville KY this morning and headed back to NC. I took I-75 out of Lexington KY down to I-40 and took that home to NC… better to avoid that area completely till it’s cleaned up…..
