Well, seems like it took about 3 weeks after I was fingerprinted to get my letter from TSA. This was like 12 years ago.

So with the snowflakes running things 12 years later, it will probably take about 12 times as long your saying.

Unknown. And I despise people giving out inaccurate advice / information here.

I have a driver starting this week that just did his. So later on this week I can give you a modern answer.

Seems like it's 3 or 4 weeks when you do the renewal as well.

It can be as fast as a week or up to like 3 weeks. I re-Added my hazmat last year and i my letter showed up in under a week. Even my twic came back that fast. *i finger printed for both on the same day at the same time.

I just put hazmat back on my license (in May) to haul LNG and Propane. Got fingerprinted for TWIC at the same time. TWIC came back in one week. My hazmat took four weeks. Took the letter to the DMV, passed the test and got it back on my license.

I think it really varies, depending on the amount of beaurocratic red tape going on at the time.

    Good luck...

Finger print takes the longest part of the process. Acouple days now after you get fingerprinted. You can check the website instead of waiting for the mail.
After that it’s on you to go to the dmv and pass the written test. Once you pass you have a hazmat.

Not sure about New York, but in TX we have to take written test first, then receive a card to take to get fingerprinted with Identogo. They told me initially if it didn't come back within a week to call the 800# on receipt to check status. When I called, the woman told me that it can take up to 30 days depending on what is on one's record and how many states one has lived in.

    Dave_in_AZ and Lepton1 Thank this.
