After nearly a year of horror trying to find a school or company to train me i'm finally headed to Ft Worth to go to school at C1 through driver Solutions. I start bright and early monday morning. The folks at D S have been very nice and helpful and answered all my questions truthfully I believe cause the didn't try to sell me the moon. I've got a prehire from USA and even though the pay is gonna suck the first year I have to start somewhere and through hard work and determination by this time next year things should be better. If anyone else is thinking about going i'll try to give updates on my classroom adventures because thats what helped me decide which schools were good or bad so maybe I can help someone else. Your future isn't a crap shoot and no one should get into this business without a lot of research and thought. I've drove before so I know what i'm getting into and it still took a year of daily research to find the right company and school for me. It's a great life for someone who loves to travel and not punch a time clock.![]()
Headed to C1 in Ft Worth this weekend!

now i am going back to punchin' the clock. so i can be home every day and spoil my new grandson LOL -
C1 is VERY fast paced so if your a slow learner forget it. We basically learned everything we needed to know to pass the CDL road test in 6 or 7 days. First week is classroom. You study for your permit on monday after physicals, Tuesday we went to the DMV to take the permit test. Those who didn't pass went back every day till they passed. Wendsday is log book and trip planning. Thursday we go to the range to start straightline backing and USA people have to pass the obstacle course( Which is a pain in the #%$. I'm still struggling with it and i'm supposed to go home tomorrow. No one else has to do the course but USA.(lucky us). Then friday most everyone gets to start shifting training. The second week is all road training, shifting and getting used to driving in traffic etc then at the beginning of the third week they start taking folks out for the road test. Different groups go on different days. The USA people have to pass the obstacle course twice. Once before you go out driving and then again after you get your license. I highly recommend Steve as a trainer. He's amazing. I was having trouble downshifting to the point of failing the road test and Steve took me out one morning and in an hour he had me shifting like a pro. Really nice guy too. Troy was my trainer but Steve went out of his way to take me out and help me. Hotel is decent, nothing fancy but it's clean and well run. I took my road test tuesday and made a 96 so they must be doing something right.
ghostrider_ Thanks this.
