I admire your enthusiasm. However truckin is a tough lifestyle that chews up and spits out many. Having been military you have a better chance than most. Truckin is great but at times its down right hard to stay with it. Bbad roads, bad weather, impatient cars, bad attitudes from customers etc. Weeks where you struggle to make $400 then other weeks you make $1500 easily. Truckin is a lifestyle not a career in my view because you live it 24/7 with occasional breaks at home.

I agree It is a "Lifestyle". Like my wife says, I live in a truck and I visit home some. But, I will say this, It gets in your blood. Once you do it for a while it is hard to stop. Everyday that I am in this truck it makes it that much harder to come off the road.

Dude, u aren't gonna make it out here. U r too hung up on the hometime... First time u get hung out for two weeks just to get home for a day and half, you'll quit.... But, hey, good luck on the decision...

Oh yeah, when I first came to maverick, I was gone for 7 1/2 weeks during training.... Not all students get paired with a local trainer...

It can be really hard out on the road.... And that's even on a getting home every weekend basis. Go 2-3 weeks or more, well....
You have to be prepared for that- REALLY prepared (mentally), if you are one who gets homesick or worried about home too much, I agree, you could have a difficult time.

I don't get homesick I've been overseas for 18 month deployment, it's the fact of not being able to enjoy life.....i was expecting to be gone a few months for training but once I'm out on my own it would be nice to enjoy things at home....cable tv, movies etc

Had one of the best weeks as far as seeing the beauty of God's creation. Simply awesome. Was glad i was not stuck in some cubicle or.factory somewhere. This is a fascinating lifestyle. I have had less stress in this than in my previous career. If you sit back and enjoy the ride and.not let the little things that you can not control upset you, this can be an amazing.way to live!
Trucking saved me from loosing everything. I had to give up some things but the only thing i lost was some home time.:....i think it was an excellent trade off!

To a over the road truck driver traveling all over the country is enjoying life. If you don't enjoy what you do for a living you need to find something else to do.

A man that enjoys what he does for a living never spends a day at work.

Have a perfect week. Loaded Sunday out of US steel in Gary going to Springdale Arkansas. That went to Fort Smith and loaded for Chicago. Delivered in Chicago Wednesday and reloaded out of Gary Indiana going back Springdale Arkansas. Delivered Thursday then went to Fort Smith and reloaded for Chicago again.

Made it home at five o'clock Friday don't have to deliver till Monday afternoon in Chicago.

Have a great weekend, drive safe and enjoy the ride.

    ATX Thanks this.
