Ive been working for a construction company that is based out of Maryland the last few months while they had a job down here in Virginia, we finished the contract they had here and they laid us off so the job search began. I ran across this company Good News Trucking Corp on Indeed last week while searching for work and against all better judgement have decided to give them a shot. There is almost zero information about them or reviews about them online. My biggest concern is they are one of those pop up out of the blue Chicago companies people do talk about regularly. Before I go any further Ill copy and paste their Indeed ad below, basically if ANY of it turns out to be true I will be greatly surprised. But what the heck, worst case scenario I waste a few weeks of my life , Ive got a little money put away so taking a gamble on them wont hurt me too bad.

So, how many red flags do you count ? I count several, the main ones of course are that they "Guarantee" $1800 minimum a week. Thats pretty much double of the average company driver if you figure the average co driver makes about $900 a week. The next flag is they say they give the driver 40% of the trucks earnings.....I have never seen a OTR company give up that much. Most of the percentage based OTR companies Ive seen are in the 20-25% range. I have hauled for a owner op before pulling containers from the ports and that was a 50/50 split after fuel, but it also wasn't OTR work it was local. Now here's one Ive never heard from any company "Let you choose destination" So....youre going to hire me as a company driver but let me pick the loads ? Wanting some clarification on this I called them, they stated I get access to their load boards and pick and choose where I go and when, lol yeah ok we will see how that pans out next week. My guess is they have no actual customers and they pick their loads off of brokers sites. Will definitely update that once I'm rolling.
The "recruiter" I talked to gave me answers to most of my questions, however with many of my questions had to put me on hold and get his answers from someone else (scary, and a red flag) They pay on a 1099 with direct deposit.. Im going in with the expectation of getting a Conestoga step deck trailer assigned to me and a mid rood cascadia. I was told I will be drug tested on Monday and in a truck by Monday evening picking up my first load Tuesday morning, talk about a fast orientation lol. No road test, just look over the truck with their mechanic and then go (red flag) My biggest fear at this moment is driving from VA to IL just to fid out its all BS and have to turn around and come home. They did promise a reimbursement of the rental car but who knows at this point. Anyway, Ill keep this post updated during this process and if I actually make it on the road with them I'll keep tis updated with loads, miles and pay as well. Im not expecting much going up there, but it sure would be nice to be surprised by them and not lied to for once. Stay safe!
Heading to oreientation for "Good News Trucking Corp." Will Update Regularly

Wouldn't hurt to ask some of our Chicago guys on here; @slim shady ... ever hear of 'em?slim shady Thanks this. -
It seems these chicago area companies pop up constantly, theres gotta be thosands of them in that area. I saw the 10 years experience thing as well and asked about it, was only told they were looking to expand and thats why theu dropped the experience level. Ive got 5 years myself so we shall see how it all plays out in the next week or so
