Mine too. That's why I pulled deep stick and fond no evidence of water in my oil.

If you're having coolant issues you are in for big bill. 2010 cummins. Same issue like yours overhauled at 600k. 3 of them out 3 that I witnessed personally. Worst years ever for cummins. Goodluck .

Water ALWAYS rises when the cap is taken off. If your lucky to get the cap completely off. You'll have old faithful geyser. Put cap back on and drive, OR let the truck cool down. The water level will fall back.

It's common for trucks to use water also. For no reason. I just had my first 2 quarts added to my new truck with 100k miles. Freightliner looked at me like i was crazy i haven't been topping off. The light comes on at 2 quarts low. And the truck stops running. The truck holds 12 gallons. It's not like it's going to hurt anything.

If it's cold and the light comes on. It usually goes out once the engine warms a little up and coolant level rises to shut the light off. Then i add 2 quarts.

That's crazy that the truck needed 2 quarts. Something tells me that the system was not properly burped and filled out of the factory.
I know my experience with some of these new diesels in boats that refilling the coolant to factory capacity can be a real pain to get the air bled out of the system.

Switching brands of oil on a trk. or any motor with a lot of miles to me does not seem like a good idea. Then also switching to syn. oil...
I just don't know.. Hopefully just a head gasket and no warping of the head or block

Don't know about the rest of you all. But every truck I've been in 09 and newer has used water.
FL just happens to have a light that comes on at 2 quarts low. Has nothing to do with burping. They just lose water. It's not like it's a weekly thing though. LIke i stated above. Brand new 16 FL with 100k before needing it's first 2 quarts. Other then the boss picking up the truck from freightliner. I"m the only driver in the truck.

I can't remember if the 05 kw with isx required topping off or not.

I had the exact truck, and the same oil pressure problems, the oil filter fills up with soot, they'd change oil every 30,000 and I always had to have the oil filter replaced 2 extra times.

    Update:
The mechanic ran cylinder cutout test and found out that TWO out of SIX cylinders did not respond to the test. We are going to check/replace two injectors. Does it sound reasonable?
