Well, court was today. The ex didn't show up and apparently hadn't filled out any of the required income statements. Her lawyer was there basically with his butt in the breeze. My guy showed up with his lawyer and all documents. He didn't have to say a word. The lawyers did all the talking and when they were through, the judge was NOT happy.
She vacated the entire order, demanded any moneys withheld from my guy be paid back immediately and if the ex wants to try again, she will have to refile.
Funniest part (wish I could be a fly on the wall for this conversation) is she has to pay back any money she already received. She's in hot water for turning it in to Child Support Enforcement and, although she tried to make my guy pay for her lawyer, now she's in debt to them.
The judge basically said, "There is NO WAY you can expect this man to come up with this kind of money! He's doing the best he can for his daughter [He's leaving his entire retirement fund to her.] and she's doing nothing. This order is completely vacated with prejudice!"
Sometimes, there really is justice.

jake, we did this for years, and for the same reason. i spoke with our attorney, our accountant and even our pastor to be sure we weren't doing anything illegal or even questionable. we bought a truck, got incorporated in my name, and my husband was an employee of "my" company. each week i wrote him a check for a minimal amount. i deducted taxes just like any other company would do, and i wrote a check out of the corporate account to child support enforcement each week. since we're married, and we combine our finances, it didn't matter that my husband was earning pennies, because i took what is called a "draw" from the account each week. so basically, the money my husband was earning was money in his pocket, and the corporation carried him through. when you lease on with a company, just show them a copy of the corporate papers, and lease on in that name as an employee of your company. i hope this helps.
