Jealous?
Don't be.
When you start out in cryo -- it's likely you will get the least desirable shifts. So you will likely be doing nights, weekends...& holidays.
The better shifts go to the drivers who have put in the time for others further up the food chain to retire out.
You may be a night owl for quite a while.
They are also very strict with safety procedures.
Driver-facing cameras are pretty much standard fare with all the private cryo carriers.
It takes a certain kind of driver to survive & thrive in an environment that regimented.

Smart move not rebuilding engine if it’s a DD15 .. Boss says he will never rebuild one again. He’s dropped used engines in or bought factory remans .. so many rebuilds fail under 250 k for the DD15 it seems .

I did the same thing years ago .
Had some issues and just decided to take a break from trucking and try something different.
If you don’t like the different thing , you can always come back to what you were doing .
For me it wasn’t switching to a company driver , I was just so burned out as an O/O that I sold my rig and got a normal 9-5 Monday thru Friday job with a steady paycheck.
My nephew does heavy haul as a company driver for a small regional company and he loves it .
He averages .89 cents a mile and earned $97k last year . Home every weekend , drives a brand new W-900 that belongs to the company so all the maint and repairs and compliance paperwork is someone else’s responsibility.
when he’s off , he’s off .
the drivers at his company get two weeks paid vacation and usually get 3 to 5 weeks unpaid time off when business is slow ,
They get paid a percentage but the company won’t take loads below a certain amount , so if it’s not going to pay good , they don’t even crank the truck.
The owners would rather have the driver and trucks stirring at home , than working for free or close to it .
Not his truck to worry about and work on , so he goes hunting or fishing or works on one of his vintage cars .dwells40, Albertaflatbed and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
If anybody knows a place I can get $3+ all miles on 2500+ miles a week let me know and maybe I'll get another truck lol.
Was just last winter I had no problem getting those numbers.
Now flatbed has reached Van level rates, sometimes even less.dwells40 and Old_n_gray Thank this. -
