    Carried one in the truck, hardly ever use it, saw drivers fishing in Lake Michegan at U S Steel in Gary. Heard of drivers fishing in the Chicago River while waiting to get unloaded .

    I was otr for 10 years, kept my golf clubs in the truck almost that whole time and was able to use them once or twice a week if I chose to. I added fishing gear 3 months before I came off the road, and was able to go fishing several times as well. Anything is doable if you put forth the effort.

    I carried a pole for a while, but as an otr driver you are in so many different states that it is pretty hard to fish and be legal. Getting a non-resident fishing license is just not practical. Not to mention expensive.
    CDL holders should be allowed to fish in any state while in the truck, as long as they have a fishing license in their home state.

    We work in the mountains a lot and it's not unusual to spend a couple of hours fishing in the evening. We leave our trucks and equipment onsite and drive our pickups back and forth so no worries about where to park.
    A lot of the good trout streams don't have much public access and even the public access is blocked if we're working up there. I've taken some really nice trout or steelhead home for dinner.

    I had to do a 34 near St Louis a couple years ago and there was a pond in back of where I was staying. I got up early and fished late for a couple days, and caught a lot of decent size large mouth bass. All hook and release, but a complete blast catching them. I always have a rod and tackle in my truck, although I rarely get to use it.
