28 years experience my butt. You sound like a newbie that wants someone to do all the work, AND drive your truck for you.
So what! That is how it's been done long, lllloooonnnnggg before e-logs came around. They are not obligated to install e-logs as of yet.
So what! That is how it's been done long, lllloooonnnnggg before PrePass came around. They are not obligated to install PrePass as of yet.
So what! That is how it's been done long, lllloooonnnnggg before QualCom came around. They are not obligated to install QualCom as of yet.

Yes...you have nowhere close to 28 years experience....and you want someone else to drive your truck for you, and run your logbook for you, and hold your hand all day every day, until the day you die.

Do you know why you have to sign that little permission slip to get your recent job history sent to potential employers? There's laws that protect your personnel files. And YOU have control over who sees what in those files. Which is why you have to sign that piece of paper every time you apply for a job.

You stated you had some trucks operating under e-logs while the rest of the fleet operates under traditional paper logs.

Have you noticed any long- or short-term cost of operation differences between the e-log trucks and the paper log trucks? Which are easier for you (as a small fleet owner) to dispatch efficiently? Do the paper log drivers feel threatened by the e-logs?

I apologize for all the questions, but the debate of e-logs vs. paper is an ongoing one here on TTR. You may be in a good position to offer a different insight on the issue.

Correct. You burn 0 fuel in the 1/4 mile you decelerate. You then take 1 mile to get back up to speed at 2mpg. Total fuel burned: 0.5 gal.

    VS

1.25 miles / 7mpg (what you would have gotten maintaining your speed) ~= 0.2 gal.

Difference is ~0.3 gallons of diesel which at $3.60/gal is about $1...

Whether prepass throws out some or all of their data matters little -- the state has their own data generated when you go by. And they can generate data without a prepass; for example, some states have machines that automatically read license plates.
