There's not really too many jobs in the world where flip flops are considered suitable footwear. Not even in the white collar sector.
Lifeguards can wear them, I guess.

The truck I can understand if it isn’t one of those with the hand written signs and every body panel a different color.

But looking, dressing and presenting yourself like one of the walking disgraces commonly found at any Walmart at night when you’re supposed to be doing a job is pathetic, and having the gall to expect to be taken seriously in that circumstance is beyond disgusting.

I did quite a few “rescue loads” when I worked there. I didn’t mind the short runs, most of the time, it let me collect the miles and help the company at the same time.

Almost all the time after I did a lot of them, I’d request a “34” because my hours sucked, and ended up with a 6 coast to coast, with enough time to get a 34.

I asked Brad one time why I got a lot of short runs back to back, he said it was because they knew I could be counted on to get them done and not complain.

You REALLY ain’t a trucker unless you leased a truck from you, with @Lonesome doing the books for you.

So in other words, because you actually do the job you’re paid to do without giving everybody else involved all kinds of grief, you get to be the one who gets ####ed every day.

That doormat treatment would be my sign to look for employment elsewhere.

It #### sure shouldn’t be considered suitable for our line of work. But this is what happens when you overly dumb down the job. You start attracting the degenerates and brain deads.

“Hey look. Trucks have automatic transmissions now. I can just waddle down to the freight terminal in my ghetto shower shoes and unwashed sweat pants down around my ### and get a trucking job”.

The poster who was recently talking about low miles and short runs in this thread, I don't even think he was talking about Holland because his original post in this thread was a reply to a previous post from another poster about another company (I could be wrong maybe he was talking about Holland but I don't think he was).

That said though, what you're saying here as a driver for Holland (drivers claim to not run at night, only run certain states, etc etc), that doesn't apply to Holland, because Holland is forced dispatch. So if somebody wasn't getting miles at Holland, it's not because they "refuse to run nights or in certain states" because it's forced dispatch and you have no opportunity to pick and choose loads.

Meaning that the miles drivers get at forced dispatch companies, that's 100% on the companies and not the drivers.

Anyways like I said though, I don't even think that the recent poster speaking about short runs and low miles was even talking about Holland (I could be wrong though but that's my thoughts based on the old message he was replying to).

Why do drivers think its ok to refuse loads if they are a paid company driver?
