Holland is very dishonest and disrespectful. For awhile things were going smoothly. One day another tractor trailer who drives for IC Logistics Corp came up on my rear and then suddenly passed. Once she got in front of me she brake checks me. I quickly move over into the passing lane to avoid hitting her. She comes up next to me, points her fingers at me gesturing a hand gun. She then motions me to pull over which obviously I did not. She passes me on the right and runs me off the road trying to get me to stop. After hitting me, she takes off. Once there was some distance between us, I pulled over onto the shoulder and called the police.
I call my safety department and get an answering machine and I leave a voicemail explaining what had just happened. Meanwhile the officer is doing his investigation to find out who did what. The other driver claimed that I hit her so the officer then asks if I have any video, so I call the safety department back. The safety director, (karla) in a rude condescending voice says: "WHAT! Is this an emergency, I have people here in my office and everybody else is out to lunch." I tell her that the officer is asking for the dashcam footage and she says, "have the officer contact us because this will take awhile and I have people in my office!" I think to myself wow, this woman is a... I think the officer was thinking the same thing by the look on his face.
So the officer gives me his info as to where to send the video. I take pictures and fill out an accident report and send it into Holland along with my dashcam footage from my Garmin. There was considerable damage to the passenger side of my truck. A few days later I follow up with the officer and he said he got a video that shows her running me off the road and has issued the other driver citations which hopefully takes her off the road. He said that the video did not show her coming into my lane, brake checking nor any finger gestures. These cameras have a pretty good wide angle so I wasn't sure how this could have been missed.
I call safety back and ask Karla where's the video showing everything. Her response, "we only send the part that the officer requested." She then suggests that I could have avoided the situation if I pulled back. Without the complete video from start to finish it doesn't show her brake checking or any finger gun gesture or her trying to get me to pull over. I try explaining to her that I stayed the course because I didn't know if she actually had a gun. Karla Bancroft (safety supervisor) says, "I don't see any of this in the video." I tell her that because I felt that my life was in danger it was a split second decision. She says, "you have your opinion and I have mine."
When talking to the officer, he did not ask for any specific part of the video, nor would have known that there's different parts to a video. He simply asked "for the video". It was Karlas discretion to send just the part showing the other driver coming over and hitting me. No other video to be had showing the beginning and end, just that one part. I ask if these cameras are recording all the time which they are, but there's no video of the other driver brake checking me. Karla who is supposed to oversee the entire safety department than says, "if you have a complaint about this then you can contact my boss, Brad Schemel", which I did but I never got a reply.
I had sent a copy of my footage to Ken Adelman (safety) along with photos of the damage. I also sent copies to the officer in charge. After discussing what was and wasn't on the dashcam, it dawned on me that the footage that safety is talking about is actually my footage from my dashcam. It appears that Karla never downloaded the footage from Hollands dashcam, but instead used my footage to send throughout the company and to the officer.
I went back and forth with Holland as to where or why this part of the video from Hollands camera is nowhere to be found. I speak to another safety person at Holland who said that Karla did have the video and sent it to the officer. A day later the officer says he never received any other part of the video from Holland, but did get mine. This guy Ken Adelman says "have the officer contact us and tell us exactly what he's looking for." This just blows my mind. Thats exactly what the officer did in the beginning so what part of "The Video" don't you understand? I then resend my video from my dashcam to safety and ask if this is the same video he sent to the officer... he says yes! But then writes back and says that he sent in a similar video like mine.
I contact the officer and ask him if the video I sent him was the same as the one that Holland sent... he says yes, both exactly the same. By this time Ken (safety) must have realized the mixup and sent the footage from Hollands camera to the officer, (2 days later) but Ken never admitted any wrongdoing and lied about sending a similar video.
I email the president of the company Chris Holland who finally got back to me. I ask him to see where the whole video is and he states, "there is no other video, it doesn't exist" He says that his cameras are straight forward shooting cameras and they don't look into the other driver's windows. Well that's obvious but they do have a wide angle view. He says the video doesn't show any brake checking, no hand gestures and that it doesn't exist, there is no more. He then asks, "exactly what is it you're looking for?" I tell him about how my video footage was sent in, that Ken initially lied about it and that Karla who is responsible for doing her job was withholding evidence in an ongoing investigation.
Before I sent the email I sent a copy to my wife to proofread. She calls me back and says it looks good, very professional and well written. I then get an email from the president, "CALL ME NOW." I tell my wife that I need to call the president and she says, "let me know what he says."
I said, let me put you on a 3 way call but go ahead and mute your end, that way you can hear the conversation first hand. On occasions my wife likes to get together with some friends for some tea. She also, like so many others likes to talk using the speaker mode. This is where things get real interesting. This is Chris Holland's (president of the company) response. Once again basically repeating what he said before.
"What exactly is it you're looking for?" I tell him I want you to see the actual video that shows the hand gesture and her pulling in front of me so you can at least see the whole story as to why things happen the way they did. He says, "I don't understand what you're looking for." Wow, really, after explaining exactly what I'm looking for he asks me what exactly am I looking for? I also tell him that I'm looking for honesty and respect. He laughs, yeah you read that right, he laughs. I said, "you think this is funny?" Apparently! He says, "you don't handle accidents, we do!" I tell him that it wasn't handled professionally while withholding the actual dashcam footage and sending out the wrong video.
He then starts yelling and cussing and says, "stop f@$&king emailing me. If you don't f$&king like it here go f@&king somewhere else!" I hang up on him and say to my wife, "are you still there?" She takes me off mute and I can hear her friends in the background, "what the hell was that?" My wife in shock says, "I can't believe what I just heard, this was the president of the company?" Unprovoked, unprofessional and unethical. Thank goodness I had someone listening in because no one would believe me and I'm 100% sure that as unethical as this Chris Holland is, he wouldn't be man enough nor honest to admit to any wrong doing.
So now they want me to come in for Driver Orientation Training... for what? Screw the drivers, doesn't care about their safety on the road, all they want to do is cover their lying butts.
I have documentation, emails, texts and screen shots from samsara's messages all of which I'm sure will come in handy.

What an interesting situation. Not many "this company sucks" things come from how safety handles an accident/incident.
I've had issues with the president of trucking companies. Being the president doesn't mean they are fair, it means they are rich.
I once had a driver back into me while I was eating a Subway sub in my truck. I had just stood up after taking my last bite and he backed into my door so hard it shook my cab and knocked me down, splitting the back of my pinky finger on my hand wide open on something sharp in that truck as I fell. We contact the cops, they make a report, guy takes full responsibility. The next morning I get a call from safety. They don't ask if I'm ok or my finger is ok, you know what they ask? "Don't you think you couldn't have done more to prevent this accident?" I said "Done what, I was eating dinner in the sleeper." They said "You didn't see this guy backing towards the truck?" I said "NO my curtains were closed, I was eating dinner and going to bed soon!"
That company, at a "company meeting" later on, bragged about firing a driver because he didn't blow his air horn at the driver who eventually backed into his truck. The guy tried to say "I would have woken up a dozen drivers on either side of my truck" and safety said "I don't care, empty your truck, you're done."
Safety, for some companies, are some of the dumbest people.
The company I work for now I actually had the DIRECTOR of safety tell me that they were ready to let me go because I wasn't taking loads that had late pickup appointments. Yea, sorry, my 14 hour clock expired at 4pm and they wanted me to hurry to a pickup 2 hours away, arriving at 345pm, for a 6pm pickup appointment. I told them I can't do that. PC would be the only way I would get out, and if you KNOW you must use PC to get out, you can't go. PC from shipper or receiver is to be used ONLY in unforeseeable circumstances where you had no idea you wouldn't have enough time to get loaded and leave. Not arriving for an appointment 2 hours after your 14 is up. I told him that you're threatening to fire me for refusing to break the law. You don't want to open up that pandora's box.
So yea, safety telling you to violate the law, that's always fun. I will say, OP, you do write well. You graduated from college?Last edited: Nov 4, 2024

I have a degree in "creative writing", whatever that is. It was part of a course I had to take to earn a graphic arts degree.
There's not a lot of bad reviews on Holland and I understand why. When I started things were good, that is of course until they're not. Over a year with them and I ran hard and kept mostly to myself. They would give me a load that delivered on a specific day. Then they would schedule me to pick up a load for the day before and then say I was late. This went on a few times.
There's other stuff that goes on at Holland but because of a maximum word count, I can't publish a book on here. For instance, they use Samsara and they had issues with the image capture for awhile. At one point I got logged out and couldn't get back in. Safety insisted that I was doing something wrong. I finally took the tablet into the safety department and they couldn't get me logged in either. They handed me the tablet back and pretty much said, "good luck. We'll be in touch when we have a fix." This went on for a week.
I started transfloing everything until I got a message saying that they don't support transflo anymore. Now I have no options to submit paperwork so I emailed my bills into payroll. I explained my situation to payroll but apparently she didn't read it. The lady there emails me back. "We do accept paperwork for bills via email. You need to get with safety for additional training!" I had to threaten her with legal action just to get paid.
I contacted upper management and within 20 minutes it was fixed.CorsairFanboy and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
I had a similar experience with her when I was there .
I had to go directly to Brad to get it sorted . Ken was great but he was on vacation so I went right to the topLast edited: Nov 4, 2024

Point is, Safety Department misrepresented dashcam footage to law enforcement and refused to acknowledge the discrepancy and then lied about it. When Chris Holland (president of Holland Enterprises) was made aware of this, he replied, "F$&K OFF!"
She is not real liked here, some people call her Karma as in, Karma happens. Most of the management here are condescending. This of course is generally considered highly unprofessional conduct from the president of any company and is a form of workplace harassment.
All they care about is what looks good on paper. Driver possibly has his life threatened on the road... Karma has people in her office and acts put out by having to do her job. -
Wow this is some -ish if I ever heard it. Is that video able to be uploaded here? Just curious.....

The video here is the one taken from my dashcam (garmin) and sent into safety and to the investigating officer for reference only along with the photos. It doesn't show everything (in the video) as far as her pulling in front of me, brake checking me or pointing her finger at me mimicking a hand gun like she wants to shoot me. She also pointed to the side of the road wanting me to pull over.
The reason I sent in my video is because the officer was trying to do his investigation because she claimed that I hit her. Holland was dragging their feet in providing the officer with the correct footage from their dashcam.
Video from Holland's footage shows all that (hand gestures) but was never given to the officer right away. The officer requested "the video", from Holland, but never received it at first. The officer did receive my video. Safety (karla) said that they only send in what the officer requested. I spoke to the officer on several occasions, days after the incident and my video is the only one he received. After a couple of days I told Holland that they were withholding evidence in an investigation.
Ken from Safety claimed that he sent the video in, but after speaking with the officer he said that the video he received from Holland shows only what I posted here. The officer said that it's the same exact video that Holland sent, same one that I sent. The day that I accused Ken of not sending the right video, he claimed that the one he sent was similar to the one I sent. But the officer said no, it was exactly the same as mine. That same day, the officer called and said that he finally received the whole video showing everything meaning, safety lied to me.
The point I had been trying to make in all this is why I didn't back off, that's all, nothing more, but things got out of hand with the lies. As most videos are self explanatory, some videos are one dimensional, meaning some explanation has to go along with it because those who are trying to evaluate the video, cannot totally feel (in the moment) what's going on. Holland's footage shows that when I sped up, she sped up. When I slowed down, she slowed down. She was trying to corner me, so to speak, in a way where she could stop in front of me. Not knowing if she actually had a gun or not, I certainly didn't want that to happen.
After getting nowhere with safety (where is the correct video?), I contacted Chris Holland, the owner's son. When I spoke to Chris, he got defensive, belligerent and told me to f$&k off. About a week later I was called into the terminal, drug tested and called into his office. Joining him was Ken and Karla who didn't say a word when confronted with the video situation. Chris did all the talking but still denied everything. Nothing was mentioned about my safety and no expression for concern.
He gave me a statement from the officer stating that there was no hand gestures to be seen. I looked at the statement and it was dated 2 days before the officer received the correct video. Chris then said, "if you're not happy here then go find another job. Due to the toxic and condescending mannerism from all 3, I rented a car and cleaned out the truck.
I do have to mention that, there's this woman who details the trucks at Holland. She was a Godsend. She is probably one of the most nicest person I have met in a long time. She helped me clean out the truck, wrote up the inventory sheet, boxed everything up for me, let me back the car into the garage to load up and we had a good conversation about her and who she is... great person. Her hospitality was above and beyond.
I do have another job, better pay and much better trucks, not the freight shakers that throw your back out... and no, I'm not going to mention who or where, but things turned out for the better.Knucklehead, mjd4277, bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this.
