Hooked up to a trailer with skirts.

from what ive heard from other swift drivers that the skirt trailers are more of a aerodynamic problem they said the side wind pushes you more. i havent pulled one yet the ones i can only find are numbers that begin with 5's or t's love those or 08 hope this helps

 

they do help your fuel mileage...it is a proven fact. BUT, if you're looking to gain an extra mile per gallon or something like that in such a short run...its not going to happen.

AT BEST, the truck will see a 0.5mpg increase over a year. But just think....if every truck had that....15,000 trucks saving half a mile a gallon...the company will see 125 miles more out of every full tank x 3 tanks a truck x 15,000 trucks....well that is enough to warrant putting skirts on the trailers. =)

 

Drivers destroying the skirts may have an effect on savings !!!

 

What about the number of drivers killed by a normally correctable side wind problem that is now more problematic because of the skirts?
