Funny it says they're cheaper. Someone posted a link to a new 389 glider in another thread that was like $280k or something retarded like that.

Yea you can buy a brand new truck, and 3 or 4 brand engines to go with it for the price of the glider.

Could be it had an aftermarket sleeper. This is still high, but tri-axle and all that?

I'm not sure what new trucks are going for nowadays but 10 years ago a tridrive daycab with similar specs was around $190ish Canadian IIRC. I guess they aren't too far off the mark with that truck when you look at the specs on it.

Somebody on Facebook suggested that it was a fact that Freightliner held their value the best. So I researched on truckpaper.com. Surprise surprise, for every decade, PACCAR trucks similar specs were at least $10,000 more and the further back were close to double. One Freightliner was $39 million!

I might take some #### on this but honestly Freightliner, to me, is a mass produced fleet truck. Unless the Freightliner was an old FLC I wouldn't buy it.

Too subjective. I guarantee if you give me a new Freighty, it will far exceed the condition of a TMC 389 five years from now. Or a mega 680.

There was dude in Ontario I was talking too with a '16 389. Nice guy. Runs step. Bought the truck new. It looks very nice, but inside isn't anything special, and no APU, and doesn't get the fuel milage my trusty Freighty gets.

To me the hood is a lifestyle choice.

1 mile to the gallon fuel difference with fuel like it is now, is about $8,500 year.

New Cascadia is getting 8 to 9. That's $20,000 year in fuel.

I don't care how you add it up. It doesn't have $20K worth of grief in it yearly, or even close. And you can buy a new engine if you need to every two years, just in money you didn't spend on fuel.

Not to mention you have the APU, and the much bigger sleeper.

It's the smart choice for a business man.

Not too mention the Freighty or the Petey off the lot is $30,000 difference. There's another engine.

But the $250K glider over a $155K brand new truck with a half million mile warranty on it, and will save $20K a year on fuel, you are not making that purchase as a business man.
