My employer is telling me that you can log the 30 minute break off duty even if it is hazmat. There are some exceptions such as carrying explosives 1.1, 1.2, or 1.3. It would seem like carrying a placarded load such as flammable would need to be logged on duty but my employer says no. Can anyone clear this up?

Um the only way to log a 30 minute break is off duty. it doesn't matter what your hauling. Trust me I haul hazmat all the time.
CrappieJunkie, Badmon, misterG and 2 others Thank this. -
Explosives 1.1-1.3 have to have someone awake and on duty in attendance at all times when the truck is stopped. If co-driver is in the bunk then the driver logs his 30 min break "on duty, not driving".
Maybe for radioactive too. I don't know about that. The rest of hazmat, I log off duty for breaks and all other personal time like eating showers etc.wis bang Thanks this. -

I'm wondering how eLOGS handle this from my understanding kemosabi49 is correct
p.s. are you the same @kemosabi49 that calls into road dog radio frequently? -
"I'm wondering how eLOGS handle this from my understanding kemosabi49 is correct" quote from aradox, (I decided to quote too late.)
E-logs has nothing to do with it. E-logs is just another way to record you duty status. Other than monitoring explosives 1.1,1.2,1.3.
All HOS rules apply regardless. -
Our Elog Has a way to select on duty rest break if you are hauling 1.1 through 1.3 explosives.
misterG Thanks this. -
Flammable loads you log 1/2 hour break off duty ..... elog or paper.
