Just by looking at it, I can tell that crane wasn’t big enough. Someone was trying to save a buck.
I’m around cranes all the time.

I’m a member of IUOE local 132. Our training ground is off the Medina exit of I-77 here in WV. Years ago I went and got my crane certification, one thing that would cause you to get a question incorrect was the words stored & stowed which refer to the jib if the crane was designed to use a jib.

Stored meaning the jib is not on the crane and in a shed or simply on the ground, and stowed meaning it was on the crane but folded back into the transport position.

Those simple calculations can be crucial when extended out to the max when not using the jib….

Seems very much like span and load calculations in my business, you can go pretty wrong if you don’t double check the figures and dimensions

They were probably fine until they started to boom down, increasing the radius right out of the chart. And right through the roof.

Funny how trying to save a buck almost always ends up costing way more than if a guy just done it right the first time..

Dflip, 201, OldeSkool and 5 others Thank this.

I'd also say it looks like the water has run dry on that operator.

201, Carpenter Scotty and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
