Mick here,
Currently hauling waste oil and coolant around Detroit in tandem axle 3100 gallons straight. I'm thinking about going back into car hauling. Previously ran a 4-car tow at Signature and a couple times I've ran a trailer. I'm just wondering what kind of hours the big 9/10 guys are working per week. I want to be home every other night minimum. Currently getting hourly and hate the sit and wait literally all day. I work 60 hours for 72,000 but drive a junky truck and usually get 52-55 hours. Thanks guys. Hoping thus leads to becoming an owner.
Hours per week for large car haulers.

Just curious, do only 9/10 car units (assuming thats what you mean) work long hours? I own an 8 car rig and work no fewer hours than any other rig.
You want to be home every other night? Hmmm, yea, so would I, but it doesn't work like that unless you want to run local...IMHO!MrCompton734 Thanks this. -
9/10 is what I'd like to run is all. I worked about 75 a week from pre-trial Monday to post-op Friday/Saturday occasionally. Just looking to see what kind of hours I would be pulling out of United Road Romulus specifically.

Thanks guys, I don't mind being out just not out for an entire week at a time. I have a 3 year old.

I previously worked for them as an owner operator and was home every night. Worst case every other night. It all depends on where you live and the freight they hire you to haul. I'd say where you live you'd have a good shot at any company that runs Michigan giving you a shot. Watch who shuttles the Chrysler products from Detroit area plants to the rail in Toledo and give them a call.

Well I end up getting 50-55 usually so that takes me down to about 55k. Overtime after 8 and after 40. But we don't have the work to really do even 45 so I spend a lot of time sitting around frustrated. I dislike wearing heavy boots and pants as well as the smell of he used coolants and factory smell in general. I'm going back to car hauling. Definitely going back. Thanks guys.
