So I got a call from yrc here in tonowanda ny. And they said everyone starts casual but it's no benefits and it's just about 40hours.
Does anyone know how long it takes too go full time?. I got a family and can't wait years too get a legit position.
Anyone going through this experience that can explain what it's like will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone
How casual?

As far as the time frame until you become casual, that'll depend on when someone quits, retires or is excrement-canned, or if business booms and they add extra permanent positions... AS WELL AS how many are ahead of you on the casual list.Buffalonytrucker92 Thanks this. -
Thanks man. It sucks that it's like that and I guess that's putting your time in.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 6, 2020

Check out UPS if you have the experience. Looks like their hiring in niagra falls and buffalo.

It's only seasonal. I need something full time. I appreciate thoTexas_hwy_287 and McUzi Thank this. -
Things can change. 1 year in full time and i already have 8-10 people under me and fixing to be more because of retirements and more sleeper teams going into the mix. For the smallish hub i work out of its alot of growth.jmz and Buffalonytrucker92 Thank this. -

Answer......a while.
You don't get to jump to the board until someone dies or quits......that's provided that you are the #1 casual.
I worked casual at Roadway Express when I was in college. I never had visions of becoming regular because I never wanted to be regular.
It was a pretty good gig. Since no one wanted to work the weekends, I would and go to class M-F.
Work 3 nights on the dock and I could make my nut.
But, this was back in 1990 when they paid $15 an hour to unload trucks.
Things have changed somewhat.
My advice, find someone who appreciates you coming through the door.
Best of luckJay5GS, McUzi, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
Now days some companies pay 18 an hour when it should be over 30 because of inflation.Cardfan89 and Buffalonytrucker92 Thank this.
