I’ve done the obvious and posted the job here. I’ve even made up flyers and put up locally, but nothing. It’s been 6 weeks without a driver and killing me. The freight is extremely hot for what we pull right now, but I can’t seem to find a driver. Any suggestions of what else to do?

how many weeks on the road?

    time off?

where does the driver park the rig on his time off??

Have you tried Craigslist? Put the ads in bigger cities and see how that goes.

Finding a driver can be very difficult

Finding a really good driver is sometimes like a needle in a haystack

and i can understand that, if the customers are regular ones as opposed to never been there before.

or if it is dedicated freight, like my job.

my employer has a minimum of 5 years experience as well. 10 is better, age is not important to them.

and frankly, i appreciate that requirement.

    Facebook can be helpful.

In your ad you should take the time to list the details of the job as buddyd157 said. As someone like me will not respond to a vague Trucking job description. I've seen too many people say. "Need 1 OTR truck driver, must have clean mvr and drug screen". And, that's it! You have give me absolutely no reason to call you. I may even feel you know you aren't offering me much of anything, don't want to give details.

Be as open and honest as you can.

you can also try YOUR state's unemployment/job service website. there can be drivers on lay off from thier jobs, that may have an interest in what you have to offer.

it could be a part of your state's labor dept, or unemployment offices.

    It’s a 2005 Freightliner with a 2011 Pitts 53ft step deck.
Pay is 1099. Driver has always taken the truck home in the past on time off. Last driver quit due to health problems not because of pay or lack of loads. Pay is 22% of the line haul. Most of these loads pay over $4.00/mile. Plus there is layover pay sometimes too due to cranes not being on schedule. They are oversized/overdiminsional loads going out and then the backhauls are whatever is available.
