How do these guys get away with doing this?

    It always seems to be an Amazon trailer with owner operator truck. This is the fourth time in 2 weeks I've seen this.

    I've picked up loads and the shipper would give me new decals to cover the ones on the truck. I never used them though.
    To keep it peaceful and simple, I just accepted the decals and left.

    Back in the day, prior to deregulation in 1980, it was commonplace to trip lease. Trucks would have cardboard signs taped to the door, had a special form they would take inside when they paid for fuel so the fuel desk could complete the fuel tax portion, since they didn't have the decal/account for that state.

    A lease can last as long as the 2 parties wish to specify. And expire according to the way the lease is written.

    That being said, trucking companies with very short term arrangements with their customers don't have a lot of motivation to be a responsible party.
    Hence the problem.

    It's the double/triple brokered Amazon loads. They put different numbers/name on to PU/DEL.
