I was at a company drive test, and they told me only to use the clutch at startup, and then put in neutral and coast to a stop sign as to not wear out the expensive clutch.
as for the DMV what do they want for coming to a complete stop.
and what is the most common sense way to stop when I'm going solo.
Thanks
How do you stop? Proper breaking help.

The safest way possible to avoid an accident and is comfortable for you would be the best common sense way.

I would figure the use of the brake would figure prominently for the DOT or use on the job.
austinmike and dngrous_dime Thank this. -

Good way to fail your test by coasting. You have to be in control of vehicle at all times
CrappieJunkie and Steelhauler1246 Thank this. -
so just use clutch and brake at the DMV right

Shove in the clutch and hammer the trolley valve. Saves the expensive brakes on the tractor.

Preferably brakes instead of ditch.

When I did my test for my license I just shifted down to top gear on the low side not too far ahead of the intersection and just idled up to the line. If the light went green I'd just pick up from there. If it was still red I'd just stop, stick it in 2nd and then roll once it turned green. Coasting to a stop in neutral is considered being "not in control".
