This is something I didn't understand about trucking. They have the qualcomm system to communicate with the truck and driver. Why don't they use the same system for satellite tv for the driver? Sell it as a upgrade or add-on to us? Things that make you go Hmmmmm

The qualcomm is not a dish and it does not transmit on the same frequency that the dish and directv use.

Do you have to pay for a subscription to the channel you want to watch or have a "download fee?"

I have heard of this "slingbox" from other users on here and they also like it. My question is what is the minimum connection speed required to watch this?

I drive team now and doubt the connection speed would be fast enough to keep the show going without buffering it every few seconds.

If you have Directv at home, you can also get a KLM sat dome and receiver for your truck, I think programming is like $5.00 a month after you purchase the system. However, I do hear the system is quite expensive.

^^^^Thanks for posting that! I'll have to check that out.

When I need something to watch and if I have an internet signal I use a free program from google joost.

Lots of great stuff with that and the picture quality is excellent.:yes2557:

Also, you can now get an HDTV signal antenna that plugs into your laptop. I have not tried it yet but it seems worth the 100 bucks or so if you want regular TV on your laptop. The one I saw at the OfficeDepot even had a little remote control that comes with it.
