Simple question but I'm sure a not so simple answer. I know that I'm not ready to do so and that I'm definitely not at the right company to do so. But the obvious logistical nightmares and thought and skill required to haul loads like this are why I actually got my cdl and why I started with flatbed out of the gate. How does one get headed in that direction, even if they are 5-10 years off?
How does one get into hauling things like these?

The truth is, you almost certainly will never have the opportunity to move loads of this size.
These are project loads done by very specialized companies with engineers of all types and huge staffs coordinating the planning/execution.
The only way would be to work for one these companies like Perkins or Mammoet as what ever entry level gig they had and work your way upn over an entire career.
Truth is I will most likely never come close in my career either.
Ronrank, noluck, DarkhorseEnterprises and 6 others Thank this. -
How do you get to that point? Start at the bottom and work your way up. Ask the guy who was pulling that "How did you get started?"
