Hi everyone I read a little about trucking for Wal-Mart and I am wondering how long you have to be with the company before you are considered a senior driver?
Thanks!![]()

I was at WALMART PRIVATE FLEET for right at 5 yrs just a little over to be exact
I was 7 from the bottom of the board of 125 drivers with that time in with the company . I was laid off and forced to a GROC DC ways away from my home so I took a buy out which was small i promise you
WALMART is a great company to drive for here is a pay break down but keep in mind the years of the millionaire WALMART DRIVER are over the PROFIT SHARING and stck splits is where the old time drivers from 70-80's made their money
After 5 yrs my PROFIT SHARING ACCOUNT was a mere $3,700 as compared to older years this would have been roughly 75-100k in years past in 70's and 80's but since SAM died follwed by BUD the HELEN WALTON they went away from their employees and more towards caniablizing theirselves and building tons of stores and giving less to the employees
PAY
43.75 CPM TOP OUT ( 3 yrs to top out )
$42.00 BUNK PAY NIGHTLY
$ 8.50 DROP
$6.75 HOOK
$14.00 PR HR HOURLY PAY
0.05 cpm weekend mileage premium
Trucks stay at DC ( cant take home )
You will most likely slip seat for 2-3 yrs ( no assigned truck)
I got my first assigned unit after 3.5 yrs with the company
Health INS is terriable
$215.00 each pay day
80/20 BCBS
but WALMART is self insured so they tell you what is covered and whats not so its not a traditional BCBS plan you just get the card ...
IN SUMMARY
WALMART GREAT DRIVING JOB
LOTS OF POLITICS
LONG TIME TO MOVE UP
LONG TIME TO SLIP SEAT ( flex or extra board ) can be limited if you go on what they call a PROGRAM TRUCK
AVG INCOME 65-80K
INSURANCE is not good if you use it or have to have it you will see why you make the money you do as a driver there. If you have kids or expecting here are some things not covered by the insurance. ALSO NO PERSRIPTION COVERAGE FOR YEAR 1 OF EMPLOYMENT AT ALL NONE ....AND NO VISION INSURANCE
1. WELL BABY
2. ULTRA SOUNDS
3. MAMAGRAMS
4. WELLNESS CHECK UPS
5. SCHOOL PHYSICALS
6. NO VISION
7. DIABETIC MEDS NOT COVERED ( a fellow driver told me this)

Been tanking ( tanker Yanker) since I did not take the transfer they offered in Lewiston , Maine -
I just saw a Wal Mart daycab Cascadia today near my town of Tamaqua PA. I didn't know they had daycabs as this was the first one I've ever seen.
-
The day cabs are for what Walmart calls
SET-RUNS
Normally reserved for senior drivers , normally need bout 10-12 yrs to even stand a chance for one
Most all DC's have anywhere from 2-3 daycabs now days -

I read somewhere that wally world has bought some peterbilts. Wonder how long you have to work to get one of them!!!
-
There are tons of Petes on the road, I have even seen some of the Green Petes(hybird) although the driver I spoke to said it had no power at all.
By the way, most of the frivers I have talked to would rather have a Cascaida than a Pete, just for the room in the sleeper.
Larry -
The Petes ate DC specific
Most DC's are truck specific
Such as
F-liner
Pete
International
They typically don't mismatch units per DC so to answer your question if the DC has petes so will you
