How long have you had your winch bar?

    I've made sure to carry my original from truck to truck when the company upgrades me. So far it's been about 8 years. I look at some of the ones that they leave in the headache rack just covered in rust and shake my head. The one I've been using is scratched up but not rusted.

    Anybody feel a little pride and how long they've had their bar?

    Sitting round 3 years with this one, had 3 break and one i got distracted and left against the tire.

    I toss my bar in my open headache rack, its not really rusty at all, prefer it under the bunk, but dont have that option on this truck, and im not putting it in my cab cause it wouldnt fit well anywhere.

    Mind saying how it broke? I actually just asked the shop if they might weld the tip back into mine because the weld was cracked almost all the way around. I saw it a year ago could have been that way the whole time but it didn't seem to have progressed. They said they wouldn't weld it and it was kind of risky so they gave me a brand new shiny one. The old one had knurling that was smooth and this one it's pretty sharp. I guess it was time for old faithful to retire.

    Yep, thats it, the end is a sintered metal, not good to weld on.

    i tend to use the back side of it inserted in only one hole when getting an extra click or two sometimes, so the end 2 inches will form a crack, when it has a crack, I consider it broken

    I carry 3 winch bars and one 4 foot 1” diameter pipe bar for my binders.

    You do realize the binder end is specifically designed to be safer than just putting a pipe on them, right? The ball end on the binder handle should hold it in place if it swings up so it doesn't go flying if your grip, and if you turn it around you can use the bar to release the binders and when it let's go the whole mechanism just breaks over going nowhere.

    You do you but it's really dangerous. I personally like having all my teeth.

    I’m very familiar with those funky looking ends. I’ve used them and I choose there not for me, I have my reasons. The 4’ cheater bar does everything I need it for and has never slipped. If you know how to secure loads with a binder, there never should be an issue. Even to unsnap a binder, never had an issue.
