Curious on other people’s numbers.
Interested in what you want the truck itself to earn, after wages for the driver, fuel and insurance.
So basically, what do you want, per day to cover 10 tires, maintenance, depreciation and a return on your investment?
Thanks.
How much does “the truck” make?

Our numbers will be apples/oranges - I have a daily goal for time worked, and rate per mile to the truck before all deductions.

If your truck doesn’t make atleast as much as you make as its driver then something should be changed.
Pay yourself 65k/yr and make sure your truck makes itself 65k a year. I’d say most everyone would find that respectable.SteerTire Thanks this. -

I try not to go less than $2.00 a mile for anything, absolute lowest would be 1.80 (including DH and what not)
Diesel Dan 92 Thanks this. -
It should not be presumed that owner operators should be on the same level of making money. It would be like comparing earnings of doctors where in the same pool there are plastic surgeons, obstetricians and chiropractors.
Diesel Dan 92, Midwest Trucker and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Just something I was thinking about on the road today, what other people’s goals were.
Kind of had the idea in my head that a guy has to pay him self $50k+ and the truck $50k+ or he’s going backward.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
