Let's say electronic logs double as a time clock. Everyone starts getting paid by the hour, drivers and companies. How much does an owner-operator charge or Bill per hour? I seen a road call Tire Guy that had thrown an air compressor in the back of a $3,000 pickup, he was charging $125 an hour. Let's say you have $200,000 worth of it equipment how much do you charge per hour?
How much does it cost to run per hour?

You don't really but it seems that if you now your break even point through total revenue per month, you can figure out what per hour rate you can set but why would you?

Local cartage company here in Nashville charges between 75-100/hr

65-110 depending what you pulling around Milwaukee. 75 is the goal for the container company I pull for to charge customers.

As a company team running 140 driving hours each week, ignoring the excess on duty hours each day we grossed about 7.64 before taxes each and every hour of the 140 each week for two. That's around 3 dollars and 32 something each per hour. Below minimum wage for two of us. Mileage per week was in the excess of 7000 many times. So it's not for the lack of trying.
If they stopped paying mileage and started paying 15 dollars a hour our gross that year would become close to 218K if not more based on 30 dollars a hour for two people per 140 driving hours per week. Closer to 250K gross for two drivers based on both driving and onduty hours combined.
The impact on trucking industry will cause those apples to become something like 5.00 a pound in walmart instead of the current 2.00 or whatever from Washington state for red delicious type out of wenachee. -
I forgot to add, not everyone will be hourly, it won't happen.
