Couple of questions:
1) How much ($) is too much for a driving school?
2) Is the C.R. England driving school reputable?
(seems cheaper than some others)
Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it.

Go to a technical college for your training. They will train you properly!! Company sponsored schools will teach you how to hold the steering wheel.future driver Thanks this. -
I never payed a dime for training,....In fact I was on the time clock getting payed by an employer for all of my cdl training,...
I started out with a construction company that wanted me to have a cdl,......Many years later I am a p/d driver for a ltl outfit,.....
Was only otr for a short stint hauling cars a couple of years ago,..
So my answer would be paying any money for a cdl is too much,...And I haven't heard anything good about cre,... -
It seems to me you get what you pay for . If you go to england they are cheaper but they expect you to get into a lease and then you are stuck with them for at least six months. If you go to say roadmasters or another firm, the cost is more but you have alot more options at the end of your training. they will help you go to at least four different companys. Most companys will reinburse the cost of training so in reality it doesnt cost you anything. I was going to go to england but started to look around and went another path.

Right now all the CDL schools are charging too much , especially those that escalated their prices when they qualified for WIA funding . No school qualifies you to be a driver . There are no guarantees . Read all the posts here by graduates that never got hired , got rejected at orientation , or rejected by a trainer . It's a big gamble .

Does the term "you get what you pay for", ring any bells? The community college thing is best right now, depending on where you live of course, if there is one nearby. But RickG is 1000% spot on!

1) There's more and more talk about the benefits of getting training at PDTI-certified schools. PDTI is not a school, more like a standard-setter. Google it!
2) Back a couple of months ago, when I first began serious research into the trucking industry and my aptitude for it, I went, just for a visit, to a CDL school near where I live. I talked to one of the recruiters there and was told so many positive things that, had I been much younger and more eager, I would have fallen into the trap set by many, not all, CDL schools.
Shortly after this visit, I found this forum. You've found it - use it! It's like the old American Express slogan - Don't leave home without it!!!!
3) Take some serious time to evaluate your reasoning for looking into trucking. It might be best to take $$$$ out of the reasoning - at least for now. Take adventure and travel out of the reasoning - at least for now. If you have an ego, like I have, check it at the door - not for now, for always!
Do the research, stay focused, pay particularly close attention to everything you read in this forum THAT YOU DON'T LIKE to hear. Make a good, rational decision - then go for it!otherhalftw Thanks this.
