Haven't went O/O yet but I'm going to be assigned the truck in a few wks. ( please spare me the horror stories, i'm aware of them lol) I have no intentions of doing it in the long run until the contract ends (it's a used but newer semi) but instead leave 4-5 months to get my own truck with reasonable payments. For reasons for not buying it now I won't explain. So my question is how much should I expect to pay to get out of it, I saw one guy on youtube payout 5K but he was in the company for a year, so i'm assuming his was less expensive.

The horror stories are not issues with leasing. They are about people who have no clue how to manage a business.

Your plan appears to be a billboard for a horror story

well i would think that you have to pay off the balance of the lease, i mean it IS a SIGNED contract, that BOTH sides have agreed to.

this is a question better asked to the leasing dept......

Do you really think you will make $6,000 more in your first 6 months as an IC than you would as a company driver?

Continue doing whatever you currently are until you can commit to running thw truck. Leasing for 6 months is a losing proposition.

If you can't make an extra $1000 per month leasing with them it's a bad lease. Find a better one.

From the numbers I've seen, most people who survive their first year leased onto a large carrier net only slightly more than they would make as a company driver - once HEALTH INSURANCE, SELF EMPLOYMENT TAXES, and CAPITAL REINVESTMENT are accounted for.

In the first six months, not a chance is anybody going to net enough that breaking a lease is going to be cost effective.

I've never even heard of a lease less than one year long unless we are talking about renting from penzke or ryder. The cost has got to be prohibitive.
