My 7th and last truck is a 2013 Cummins powered cascadia that I bought for 34k in sept of 17 with 511k on the clock .
Been thru it bumper to bumper including a complete overhaul and delete .
Been a good truck all things considered and next year the truck and driver plan to partialy retire ...work 4 more years ...sell it and fully retire .

Maybe you want to rethink where you are leasing onto?
Never go by the year of the truck. You can buy a truck that's 5 years old that would give you more problems than you could ever imagine.
You have to go by who you bought it from and what records you have and Dyno and oil sample, Etc
You could buy a well-maintained pre EGR truck from a retiring owner operator for way less than $50,000 and you would have pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages of receipts and repairs that have been done to it.
You could probably find one that was recently in frame that has a new clutch and a rebuilt transmission and whatever else.

So the consensus is but old with low cost high mileage with overhaul. Sounds good to me. I would love to have like a late 90s with 60 series Detroit. Btw I’m not a van guy I’ll be running tanker or end dump so my specs will be a bit different than just a road truck running refer or van. If I don’t lease on I’d like to find a company locally to run end dumps,side,belly for but haven’t found anything like that yetBackwoodsGA and Coffey Thank this.

Problem is you have to buy newer to get financing.

I bought a new IH 4070A in 1973 for $23,600. Made a $4,000 down payment and financed with IH. Sold it in 1982 for $4,995. Drove it 985,000 miles. Detroit 8V71 was overhauled twice, the first time under warranty because "the rings were not compatible with the sleeves." Air conditioner was only under warranty for one summer. Over and above my teamster wages and pension, that truck managed to net $5,000 every year thru all the recessions, layoffs, strikes, buy-outs, deregulation, fuel protests, etc. Longest load hauled: frozen Mexican strawberries from Laredo to Windsor, 1635 miles.
2014 Cascadia evo with Apu , scale right scales and every knob switch and dial they could cram on my truck . Around 65k , after finance and fees ,closer to 80k 4 years ago . Almost paid off just dont want to part with the money .autopaint, dwells40, Coffey and 1 other person Thank this.
