You must drive for an awesome company! Kudos to you for finding that outfit and kudos to them in knowing how to treat such a precious commodity, a quality driver!

We've never been late getting to the house for hometime with our current outfit. Of course it helps not having to deal with forced dispatch, the fact that the our usual route is I 10 from southern California to Florida and back, we live near Tyler, Tx,(quick jaunt up to I 20), and that we are a team.
Usually a true team load from Cali to Fl., then a solo trip back West. We can almost always swing by house for 12-24 hours when headed West. Its really nice doing laundry at house as opposed to truckstop. In 2 1/2 plus years with current outfit, we've literally never been late for hometime, usually a day or so early. Most companies put an emphasis on keeping teams happy! I do of course realize that not all of us are teams, but there are companies out there that treat solos with the same kind of respect.

Always late. We quit worrying about it.

What we did is document the moment that truck is shut off at the house. If we are home 10 days after being out 4 months, we will make sure we get our 10 days in. So it will be a minimum of 240 hours before anyone touches that truck at the house.

Anytime dispatcher calls us after going through 1200 others in the fleet nation wide, we tell them it's a extra day off. It don't take them long to leave us alone for that exact time off. Remember we took time off anywhere we wanted to in the USA. Not necessarily at home. It could easily be in Somerset or over in Vegas. Does not have to be at home. Home is where you are there you are.

When I hear a question like that, it tells me someone is coming from a Joe Lunchbox job, where at 3:28 everyone is lined up at the time clock. I didn't want to know what time it was, just bummed me out. I remember it well, day going great, stops coming off like planned, quick call to the missus, "looking good for soccer game" ( or whatever), then the backhaul, "yeah, we had a machine break down, gonna be a while", boss says they need the product, gotta wait, next call was, "hi honey, um, yeah I'm not " click,,hello? Oh boy. That can happen only a few times, didn't blame her for leaving, really.

One day late is not on time. Sorry ‘bout it. If you're just 15 minutes late they’re on you butt about it. Omg the world would come to an end if you were a day late.

Why would you let the people who will drive a bus over your dead body for being late get away with being late themselves?

I live on a 2 way street, if i make your appoontments on time, you sure as heck better make mine on time!!! This ain’t no one way rodeo.

Yes. Decent company overall (Britton Transport). It pays to do some good research on a company before going there. This site is invaluable for that.

I transferred to this terminal over home time. (Partially)
I was getting tons of home time. Way more than I wanted. Only problem was, the boss had decided my home was a truck stop in Denver. I talked to my new boss on the phone when: I had a run that went within 3 miles of my house. Had me take a 34 at the truck stop in Denver. Stop at all at my home? Nope!
