I’m 37 and after being very successful biz owner, now I’m getting very little take home money.
Can I start from 0 and become a truck driver, has anyone heard of people my age starting out in trucking.

I read an article about jobs because very few people want the Lifestyle, the Lifestyle I can handle it’s the starting from 0 can it be done has it been done.

All my life I taught of trucking as a safeguard job, is it?

    Thanks

I have had a commercial license for 27 years. I have always equated being a truck driver with being a waitress. A waitress can go anywhere in the country and have a job, so can a driver. I have never been unemployed as a driver. No, 37 is not to old to start. Get started, try some different types of driving and within 5 years you will find your niche and you can always have that to fall back on if you want to pursue something else. I have owned three business during my career and trucking has always been there when things did not work out as planned. Hope that helps.

This is a question that is posted on here AT LEAST once a month, if not more. A great many of us here started out when we were already certified old farts. Good grief, 37 is barely out of diapers. GO FOR IT!

I say the oldest is 102. You just can't hold your bladder any more once you've pasted that age. Other than that, go for it...

As a safeguard? With a few exceptions, absolutely. As long as you're remotely in good shape (pass a DOT physical) if you are willing to endure being a way from home for lengths of time, and are able to keep your driving record clean. Trucking is by far the easiest industry to score a new job in. No matter what state you live in, or wish to move to. There is ALWAYS a job waiting for you, no exceptions.

You may get your feathers ruffled initially getting into to trucking, but once your in your good to go.

I'm a 54yr old female and I went through CDL school 2 years ago, so NO, 37 is not too old!! I got interested in driving by riding with my husband for 2 years before making the 'jump' to driving. We now drive as a team. It is a definite lifestyle change that I think is probably better suited to more mature people.

Heck I'm 52 and I'm just starting out. I don't think somebody should probably do flatbed at my age, just starting, but as far as driving a van I don't see why not. I think older drivers offer some advantages that younger drivers don't have. For one thing, many people my age are not glued to that ###### plastic thing attached to our ears 24/7.
