Bought used 2021 Pete 567 Cummins. A couple of the OBD pins were discolored when I bought it. Finally getting around to replacing them, but not certain which depin tool I need. I have several Deutsch parts kits with tool including the DTP series. Any advice or tips on de-pinning?

I like the plastic release tools. If you get aggressive with the steel ones you will break the terminal lock and the connector is junk.

Be gentle. Make sure the tool is fully inserted and pull on the wire gently. When the lock is released it will pull out with ease. If it doesn’t release the first try, pull the tool straight out and rotate 90 and try again. A little WD40 or soap and water can help. Just spray a bit on the end of the tool.

Ok thank you. Do you know if the pins are Deutsch DTP, or some special pin? Evidently these are not de-pinned very often by shadetree mechanics as there seem to be very little info or videos put up.

I think the DT and DTP is the connector style. The pins should be the same as long as they are the same diameter pin/ for the correct wire size. Try to find the barrel style crimp on the wire end vs the fold over tab. Special crimper is required for the barrel crimp from all sides. CAT dealer should have these pins and are good quality.

Yep, got the right crimper. I think it has 6? points of crimp contact. Also,....have several fold over tools.......that often make me fold over in anger.:angryfire:
