Hello, purchased a glider truck on auction, and I’m trying to find the build specs , what rear ratio I have. Called Fitzgerald , and they said it’s not their truck . Who else builds Freightliner with Detroit 12.7? Thanks!
How to find Glider truck specs?

Should be a tag on the rears with the gear ratio.
Dino soar, W923, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
Tons of people built Freightliner gliders with Detroit engines. Hopefully the one you got came from a decent shop.
Opendeckin, Dino soar, Sons Hero and 2 others Thank this. -
Call Freightliner with the vin. They can tell you who ordered it.
You can get close by jacking up the rear end and count the driveshaft revolutions.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
I’m 4th owner of my truck which is a factory glider ordered new in 1994, titled in 1995. I traced it back to the original owner which is Sheppard gear in Pennsylvania.
When I contacted them they still had info on the truck including the serial# of the original engine.
As mentioned earlier there should be a tag on at least 1 of the differentials to identify the ratio….. -
Literally anyone could have built it. Billy Bob could have ordered one and built it in his backyard. Best bet is call FL with the VIN and they could probably supply you with the build sheet outlining what they sent it out the door with. Not all gliders are rolling gliders either, some were ship from factory with no engine, transmission or axles.
Not knowing the history who knows if the rears are even still what it was originally assembled with?Ruthless Thanks this. -
