Hopefully the business is better than in the USA, having HOS that are designed for safety not just revenue extracting from the drivers. We all started somewhere.

    That’s a big kid for being 11.

I told my daughter she can drive my truck whenever she feels up to it but there is no way she’s big enough to reach the clutch yet. She’s also 11.

I remember a 8 year old on a stack of books upgrade near scranton hauling a carnival ride on a flatbed long ago. He was in a old transtar from the early 70's The radio settled down once everyone understood there was a child rolling on the wheel in that thing. Lawful as far as we knew... He did good.

I was nothing at 8. That boy probably floated like no body's business being still short to reach the cluctch, and the steering wheel was almost as big as he was. In fact for me 8 was the land of no. No this no that and no no no. And you wonder why I am what I am now lol.

Children are... sometimes able to soak in whatever you put them to do and do it well if taught just so. Im one of those old fogies who would think twice before putting a kid on the wheel in them days.

I think I was about 14 the first time dad let me drive his truck from the shop to the house alone. Pretty intimidating since it was a brand new truck.

Judging from the title I thought maybe it was a do it yourself kit.

I couldn't agree more. Apart from moving dad's trucks from the shop to the house when I was done servicing I had never driven on the road in a truck until I went to school. I did spend just about every summer vacation in the truck so when it came time to actually start shifting gears I did it all by engine sound. Out in the bush you're always shifting so the sound and timing was kind of engrained in me over the years if that makes sense?

I grew up on a farm so I was around trucks and such all my life. I was 12 the first time I got behind the wheel and actually drove. I almost drove over my dad's chainsaw, that was my first lesson in G.O.A.L!
At 16 I was making coal deliveries to homes in a small dump truck. At 21 I started driving for a local factory delivering aluminum building products to company warehouses to much of the eastern third of the US. Drove for 42 years and retired in 2006. Now I'm out in my RV being a pest!

There was a 7 year old girl who piloted a plane across the US. That is right up until she was killed when the plane crashed.
