The living conditions can vary quite a bit as can the condition of the equipment.

The company I work for has apartments for the drivers and is about to get rid of them in favor of setting up a man camp on the yard. I choose to stay in my rv so I don’t have a roommate so they let me park right on the yard and hook into their power and water. I live basically for free and have a two minute walk to my truck. Which is an 2018 W900 pulling a 2019 Dragon oil barrel.

There are some great jobs and living situations in the patch and some really really bad ones. I quit the first company I worked for over junk equipment. It may take one or two outfits before you find the right job for you.

The last guy I did local for, if I wasn't my dad's care giver, I worked so many hours, I would have lived in a 5th wheel at the yard.

I work crazy hours by choice. Four thirteen to fourteen hour days and a 16 tossed in every 5 days. Then reset and get after it again. We work 3 weeks on and one off but I never take my week off either.

That’s just me though. Most of our drivers work 11 to 12 hours, reset as needed and go home once a month. I’m here to make money though. I intend to retire at 45 and spend the rest of my days sitting on a beach in the Philippines watching the pretty girls walk by.

I wish I had a camper I would go haul fuel or crude and make some $$ but the man camp is a no.

Is the pay equal to what I've heard from companies I've talked to?
Most have told me it's a base percentage and if you bust your butt you can make around $2000 a week as a company man... $1600 a week on the low side..
I've been offered free housing from 2 as a crude hauler

Expect 1600 to 1800 with a good company. 2k is doable if you hustle and have a decent dispatcher.

I’m in good with my dispatch, know where 95 percent of our leases are and I hustle all day long. I break 2k most weeks as long as we have the loads.

Also if one of those two is Excalibur pick the other one!

I should have done the same! I left after three weeks. I would have left after 2 but eog was adding a hundred dollar bonus each day from Christmas to New Years. I quit January second haha.

I don’t see rmco to often up in Carlsbad but the few trucks I do see appear to be pretty decent. Better than Excalibur’s junk for sure.
