My Trailer is 13’6”. How did I fit under a 12’10” bridge?

New York law says bridges must be marked lower than actual clearance. I forget exactly how much lower.

Lol my gps spazzes out when I go to huntspoint. I myself never understood NYC clearance signs. Some say the clearance is marked for snow. Some say it’s marked at absolute lowest point and the curb takes a foot from the actual clearance. Some say they just remove a foot. Honestly I don’t know. I’ve seen bridges marked 11”6 that I passed and I’ve seen bridges marked 13”2 that a truck got stuck under it.

Oh also quick tip. Make sure you take your turns wide enough that you don’t climb the curb cause a lot of these bridges have JUST barely enough clearance that climbing that curb will make you too tall and might end up rolling you over.

Always fun on the BQE near the Brooklyn Bridge watching first timers hit the brakes only to realize they just watched 20 trucks go under the bridge.....

If I remember correctly, if it's a yellow clearance sign you have to add a foot to get the actual clearance height and if it's a white clearance sign then it's the actual height.

Leave it up to New York to institute a system like that. Here is an IDEA........MEASURE THE EFFING CLEARANCES AND SIGN THEM ACCORDINGLY!
