Natural disasters are terrible events , but the economic stimulation is undeniable.

 

I doubt many of the people without insurance and busted flat would agree with you.

Mr. Jackhole, do you think it is a stimulus to the economy because it means more contracts for certain companies and more jobs for certain people?

That is only on the front end of things.
On the back end I suspect Congress will have to raise the debt ceiling again to pay for it, driving this country further into debt. That may require higher taxes on all of us.
They could just print up some more money, which would further devalue the dollar.

I'm wondering how that really helps the economic situation in the long run.

Not just big companies make more money. Lots of people who weren't working will have employment opportunities. pretty sure the gov will raise debt ceiling with out a natural disaster, just gives the greedy pigs an excuse.
