Was heading to work and completely lost control of vehicle due to hydroplane. Was going a little under the speed limit. Spun the car a few times before hitting the median. Two cars pulled over and said it looked like i hydroplaned. No other cars besides mine were damaged. Wrecker was sent out and cop came and gave me a citation. It reads " failure to maintain lane" violation code 40-6-48. In the remark area it reads "see accident report". I am scheduled to go to court for this in February.
This is my first accident. My questions are; do i need to report this to the trucking company right away? Will this accident get me fired?
Hydroplaned in personal vehicle. Got citation for failure to maintain lane

Get a lawyer. Should be easy to beat. Probably cost you 1500$
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Doubt you'll be fired. Don't report it until it's settled; you haven't been proven guilty of anything yet.
Hire a lawyer to help and maybe he can even get the charge dropped completely, then you won't have anything to report.Last edited: Dec 9, 2018
austinmike, Woodys and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
There’s no distinction between being in your personal vehicle or a commercial vehicle. Get a lawyer and try and get it reduced to driving too fast for conditions or something similar. Whatever the ticket ends up being in the end is what you’ll have to report to your employer because that’s what will show up on your MVR. Don’t go in Monday and tell them about the ticket. Keep quiet until you’re convicted of something.
Woodys, 88 Alpha, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
This cmv career is such BS that one little infracture creates a Royal Stink storm.
Especially if it occurred in your personal vehicle.
These Frikin Trails up here they call roads are a joke. -
You are lucky you did not get cited for speeding too fast for conditions, which is what comes to mind when you are hydroplaning. Or equipment defects, tires etc.
I cannot emphasize the keep mouth shut.88 Alpha, akfisher and Snailexpress Thank this. -
De Trucker Thanks this.

Omg get with it, go fight the ticket, not a big deal.
Most likely it was caused by your tires, if you were honestly going under the speed limit.x1Heavy, akfisher, Midwest Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Thanks guys. Yeah it looks like my tires were the cause. No tread left.

hydroplaning can happen at as little as 35 mph's....
try and talk with the prosecutors office for maybe as eat belt infraction, and tell him/her you will still pay the full fine...all they want is the money.
