    I wouldn't call this sinkhole "massive", at least judging by the opening. Gotta wonder if there is an aquifer below.

    The water table in Houston is only about 15 or 20 ft below the surface. Also, Houston soil has a high clay content, so it expands and contracts a lot, which I suspect is what happened with that sinkhole.

    And then there's the fact that Houston doesn't take care of the East Fwy very much to begin with.
