Big Mike, which way you coming from? The east half of 680 will be fine, but I-29 # mm 1 and up by mm100 might be issues. They just aren't sure how bad those two spots will be. I can give you the best way around if they do close any more of 29.

You should be ok, just check and make sure there's no issue up by Blencoe (mm 105) before you leave Des Moines. If that closes, either do 80-59-37-175-29 or 35-20-29. There's plenty of other decent ways, but those two keep you on the 4 lane as much as possible. Just thought about it, you could run up the NE side as well, 80-680-29-30-75-29. If wish to avoid the Smurfs, I can tell how to do that, too! :) I'll look tomorrow and see where they're at with the water, not sure when crest is...

How bad is the flooding out that way? I was there in '08 a bunch and got to see all the floding then.

That is a bit more than a slight detour. I go through there all the time, going to and from Sioux Falls/Yankton/Brookings/etc.

It's not bad yet. They know they're going to lose the levee near the IA/MO line; they have a minor breach already that they're fighting to keep from being a major breach. The article I read said it's a 'when' issue, not an 'if.' That shuts down 29 there, and that stretch around mm 100 is more than likely going under, too. At that point the detour becomes US36 (St. Joseph) to US 75 all the way to Sioux City or US71 to US20 . Yes, I know you can cross on US136 # Rockport too, but those aren't exactly 'making time' roads. Any of these routes add an hour to the Sioux City to KC trip, and that's when you're the only one out there! Not going to be fun!:biggrin_25513:
