Friends, I have a pickup in Greenville nc, second stop after loading in Knoxville, class 3 flammable (gas/transmix) and the question has come up whether the tunnels on 40 are Hazmat restricted or not.
Anyone know definitively, or know who I can contact for that info?
Load goes Monday, trying to get things planned solid before rolling.

    tscottme Thanks this.

The NC I-40 tunnels in question are in Haywood County, NC:

I-40 Tunnels Haywood County, NC (gribblenation.com)

There are no hazmat restrictions for such.....that I can find in my Rand McNally Road Atlas (Motor Carrier edition).

Also--there is no mention of a hazmat restriction for that here, either:

Hazmat Materials Routing -- by state -- FMCSA

For THE MOST up-to-date info.....or....if you still need more help getting the "warm fuzzies" about your question, you can call:

I ran thout route hundreds of times with Corrosives. The only HazMat restriction in TN is HazMat must use I-640 around Knoxville (I-40 thru Knoxville is restricted). There are no HazMat restricted routes in NC.
Once you get into The Gorge between TN and NC there are two tunnels, but they might be in NC. Whatever state they are in, there is NO HazMat restriction.

Here is the FMCSA National HazMat registry of restricted routes.

Yeah, nah... Kinda tough to hide a company gas truck, known for Hazmat... Too easy to roll clean.
No need to poke the dragon needlessly.

@lual followed your suggestion, called and confirmed route was clear to run.
Never hurts to verify current info.
    We're good to go.
