Lost control at exactly the same spot a big truck was broke down. I doubt it but very sad all the same.

Yup, medical bills. Hospital wants money from a deceased family. Makes no sense.

It is all business to them. Five hours in the e.r. for 4 stitches because I was being stupid. How much you say. I say sit down. $2,467.00

Chalk up another roadside incident. Wonder what diverted the driver's attention. Whatever it was, this was a terrible price to pay.
Just another in a long list of situations that could have been avoided, had the truck not been stopped on the shoulder.

So, the truck driver is at fault eh?

Dummy would have crashed into the ditch, a tree, a whatever. I'm sorry to see people die, but this one seems entirely on them.

I don't think he said the "truck driver was at fault". But I also think there is culpability on the trucker if he was not dealing with mechanical problems, but rather was simply doing something that could have easily waited until the next exit.

I'm sick and tired of all the trucks who have no reservations about pulling to the shoulder anywhere, any time just to do something that could wait.

Defensive driving also includes not parking yourself some place stupid, in harms way. However I'm not sure that maybe the trucker was dealing with a mechanical issue ... I'm talking about the many others who do this needlessly.

I wasn't sure how to handle the gaping hole while looking at the tendon and nerve for my thumb.
